We commonly use materials such as Inconel 600 and 625, nickel 201, copper alloys, Kovar, alloy 42, many different grades of stainless steel including 304, 305, and 316, CDA151/155, CDA102, and CDA110 ETP. In addition, we also offer many specialty materials and are able to work with almost any other material.
With the ability to utilize so many different materials, choosing the best fit for your part can be a challenge. Johnson and Hoffman professionals are ready to answer your questions regarding any material and provide specialized insight for your task. For instance, if cost is an issue, we may recommend the lowest cost materials. But if strength and resistance is a key factor, we will work to find the right material for you.
Here are a few factors to consider when choosing the right material:
- Metals allow for higher tolerance.
- Designing custom parts or prototypes with sheet metal is generally lower cost than using plate or rod material.
- Sheet metal can be formed into various shapes and take on more simple or complex bends.
- Materials that don’t require finishing, such as stainless steel or aluminum, may be more economical for shorter runs.
